Thrifted Grooviness

July 2, 2012 By Sage 5 Comments

I’ve had some great finds in recent months, but not many secondhand things can make me as gleeful as a groovy vintage hippie dress…

So now the big question is, should I hem it to knee length and wear it out with sandals, or should I just leave it ankle length and run around my house like Stevie Nicks?

Why can’t you leave it ALONE……and wear it outside the home too? Here in East Texas where I am…”we” wear long dresses at home as well as in public, so…..START A TREND!!!!

    Hi Anonymous,

I do wear long dresses in public, but none of them are likely to get me unsolicited directions to Woodstock :)

My dilemma is more related to this particular dress than dress lengths in general.

To me, vintage worn well means looking stylish, not like I’m living in a time warp, or on my way to a costume party.

P.S. Heidi, I think you might be right :)

Nice find! Well, since you don’t look old enough to have been at Woodstock you can get away with wearing it either as is or shorter. I think this might look fresher worn knee length with sandals, but you will look great whichever way you go. OTOH, the fabric colors and pattern are not just summer so you might have more weeks to wear it if left long. Enjoy!
