New Vessel Sink

July 15, 2012 By Sage 6 Comments

I thought the huge bathroom sink was very cool, until reality hit.

It wasn’t deep enough for handwashing lingerie.  It wasn’t graded properly, so it didn’t drain easily, and it was difficult to keep clean.  And what a waste of space!!!  I had that huge cabinet, yet things were constantly falling off because the sink simply took up too much room.

And poor Opie! I can’t even begin to count how many times he narrowly escaped my falling curling iron :(

But now, with a little help (ok, a lot of help) from my friend, I’ve got more than enough counter space for my curling iron, a lavender plant—and even Opie, if he decides to hang out up there :)

Love your vanity!! Is it a stone with a woodgrain print or is it an actual piece of chopping block?

    Hi Helen,

    Thanks :) It’s chopping block.

Probably not the most practical choice for a bathroom vanity, but it sort of grew on me so I opted to replace it with the same vs. going for stone, which I think would’ve conflicted with the antique cupboard.

Love the new sink, and now Opie can drink water out of faucet :)

    Thanks :)

Hopefully I can shift his interest to the faucet and away from chewing my new houseplants :(

I hope so, too. Most of the cats I’ve sponsored are fascinated with water dripping from a faucet,

As to the houseplant munching, maybe Opie would like some Oat Grass to chew on, my cats like it (but they don’t like wheat grass).

I just ordered some new oat grass seed from Lucy’s:
