Tivoli Aarhus Amusement Park

August 22, 2013 By Sage 4 Comments

I love old amusement parks!  They were a big part of my childhood summers in New England, but most have either closed or been swallowed by big chains with licensing deals.

Tivoli Aarhus is an old European amusement park on the edge of Aarhus city centre in Denmark. Tivoli Aarhus totally reminds me of the vintage amusement park I’ve seen in photos from when my mother visited Holland in 1968.  It’s all fountains, statues, gardens, and colors you want to eat!

I went on the ferris wheel and rode a little electric boat, I ate soft ice and played a round of mini golf.  It could not have been more retro fabulous if it wanted to!

I found a muse in Tivoli Aarhus! I need go back alone, with my camera…

I chose to overlook this stupid stereotype ;-)

If you’re visiting Aarhus, Denmark in the summer months, then Tivoli Aarhus amusement park is a must see! Not that I’m trying to drive hoards of tourists to our little city secret, but I think it’s one of the best places to see in Aarhus. Cruise ship passengers in Aarhus for a day can easily experience the whole park, including a round of mini golf that’s included with admission.

It seems that Tivoli Aarhus is intent on keeping their park a secret because the website is currently only available in English, but the Aarhus tourism site has this page which gives an English overview of this much-loved by the locals attraction :)

Once upon a time, I had the chance to move to the happiest country in the world!

My restless Aries spirit liked that idea, so I did what any girl in my position would do… I grabbed my cat, booked a one-way ticket to Denmark, and became an expat!
