Four years and sixteen days ago, I finally got the keys to Vesterled.
My shipping container was still somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic and I remember sitting on the floor drinking that bottle of champagne, still in disbelief that I’d actually pulled the whole thing off!
I have a similar feeling tonight, for different reasons ;-)
If Little Edie is me as a ring, then this was me as a room. This space has gone from cream to Kate Spade pink and back to cream.
The charity shop came today to pick up a couple of pieces of furniture and other things, and it occurred to me that everything I was donating had originally come from that shop. How cool is that?
I supported a charity instead of a corporation, enjoyed things that had already been loved by someone else, then gave them back for someone else to use and enjoy. Fiscally and environmentally responsible—I might be feeling a little smug about that!
The movers will be here on Sunday morning, and this room will once again be a blank canvas. I hope the new owner will love this space as much as I have…

Awwwww.
Enjoy the smugness too.

Oh! I am going to comment about smugness too. Go ahead, be smug! But just don’t let it go to your head.
This because my hubby warned me not to be so smug about such & I try hard (I grew up without $ so, yes, I do try hard!) — but you have every right! You did very good for yourself & the planet with what you chose to do. And I for one, applaud! (But know I am not alone in applauding… So kudos to you!)
Yes, sorry, I will be back… I’m learning about Denmark thru your eyes… (Yes, I’ve actually been there, but only because I was put up in a hotel by an airline for 24 hours — Tivoli is all what I know!)

Thanks :)
I think it’s ok to be a little smug in this situation. I also grew up without money and to some extent I haven’t caught on to the fact that my situation has changed. I also feel that being well off financially isn’t a license to act irresponsibly and wastefully.
I’ve never been to Tivoli, and I wanted to go until they partnered with Kopenhagen Fur during “Christmas in Tivoli” then I decided not to support them. I love old amusement parks that haven’t been licensed to death, seems they’re getting harder and harder to find in the US, but they’re still alive and well here. There’s one in walking distance of my new apartment!

Yes, very much agree with that statement… Thanks for the thought today…

And a P.S. — thanks for all the links to past history! I feel I’m kinda more than catching up on your stories…

Thanks, Barb! I think I’m in good shape. It’s not even 8:30 and I’ve already defrosted the freezer and cleaned the fridge!
