One year ago today, despite lost luggage, an iconic hotel in shambles, a manicure from hell, last minute witnesses, and finding out a bit too late that Gibraltar is an absolute dump, we got married!
I’d painstakingly researched Gibraltar wedding photographers and agonized over which one to choose. After narrowing down the list to three, we chose Gary Tapp Wedding Photography. Marketed as one of the top Gibraltar wedding photographers, Gary is based out of Marbella, Spain. He definitely wasn’t the cheapest choice, but he seemed the most likely of all of the Gibraltar wedding photographers to be able to capture the editorial/fashion vibe we were looking for.
While he was a wonderful wedding photographer to work with,we were sadly disappointed when he finally delivered our Gibraltar wedding pictures. They looked exactly like the proofs… he hadn’t processed them at all! There were sharpness, cropping, exposure, white balance, and color balance issues… my dress looked a different color in every shooting location, and Robert’s silver Tiffany cufflinks looked gold.
Fortunately, I’m pretty good at photo editing, so it wasn’t a complete disaster, but I feel ripped off and I completely regret that out of all of the Gibraltar wedding photographers, we hired Gary Tapp to do our Gibraltar wedding photos. I’m very upset with how the photos turned out, and I’ve been working my way through them, seething as I corrected issues that should’ve been corrected by Gary before he delivered the photos, and that’s why I haven’t really done a wedding photos post until now.
Our one year anniversary seems like the the perfect time to share a few photos of our Gibraltar wedding day. Despite everything that went wrong, and while I wouldn’t want to relive it, our wedding day was still one of the best and happiest days of my life. And give or take, we’re finally to the point where we can sort of laugh about it.
Here are some of our favorite photos from our Gibraltar wedding, taken by one of the worst Gibraltar wedding photographers and processed by me…
Robert and I are in London celebrating our first wedding anniversary! Where better to celebrate than in our favorite city? And where better to shop for anniversary gifts than in London? There are lots of paper shops in London ; -)
Then we’re off for a few quiet days in the English countryside because it’s about time I saw more of England than London…

Your photos are stunningly beautiful! Congratulations on your anniversary, and I hope that you are loving London. It’s such a wonderful city and a great place for a holiday.

The photos are absolutely stunning! My favorite one is the one in front of the boat! It’s unfortunate your experience with your photographer was so negative, but I’m glad you were able to process the photos and still have good memories of your special day!

It is one of the most important decisions you can make for your wedding day, hiring a photographer and it is unfortunate that you are having to do the editing work yourself. It sounds like you took good measure to find someone that would do a good job and I am so sorry that it ended up being less than what you expected. I love the photo of the two of you on the boat, such a classic love pose and I would frame that if I were you.

I love these photos! The one with the lipstick was my favorite, it really shows your personality. Beautiful!

Sorry to hear your day was riddled with disaster but glad to hear you still had the best day ever. I think the photos are beautiful and would be interested in seeing the before and after, that would really give me some insight on what I can do to improve my photos. I love your dress too, it’s gorgeous!

These are beautiful photos! You did a wonderful job on editing them. I’m sorry to hear the photographer wasn’t so great at his job. It’s nice that you were able to fix them though.

I love your photos and am very impressed that you were able to edit them yourself. I only spent one day in Gibraltar and had a good time, but after reading your post I won’t be taking any long vacations there. I hope you have a fantastic time in London and am looking forward to hearing about it as I’ve never been.

How incredibly beautiful! We had a VERY small wedding in our backyard and one regret I have, is not hiring a professional photographer. You are so lucky that you have so many beautiful memories, captured to remember forever!

Happy Anniversary to you both. My husband and I are celebrating our 2nd year, in December. We don’t have many photos of us together (minus the wedding of course). I feel like these one’s of you two are gorgeous, and to be cherished. You both look fantastic, and wow what a location. I feel like your hubby kinda looks like James Bond and you, the lady in those Louboutins :)

Your wedding photographs are so beautiful and wonderfully stylized. But, I feel for you and your wedding photographer drama. I was married in London on November 7, 2014 and our wedding photographer failed, big time. We received only three photos (with poor lighting and blurry, too) from the entire wedding ceremony! He later told us that his camera broke. I was (and still am) heartbroken. A week later, with a different photographer, we got dressed again in our wedding clothes and went back to the church for photographs, to re-create the wedding day—–which, of course, can never be re-created. Sage, I’m so glad you can now (sort of) laugh about your own wedding photography drama, but I’m not there yet (and probably never will be—-I’m still mad).

How horrible! I cannot believe the photographer didn’t have back-up gear! I know several wedding photographers and they always have a back-up rig with them. I hope they compensated you well, not that it could ever make up for the situation. I’m so sorry.
I definitely consider myself lucky that the photos were good enough to work with, and that I have the skills to fix them. But they’re still not at all what he’d agreed to deliver, and it’s still difficult to look at them. The ceremony photos are just awful!
